ABOUT

My name is Alger and I am a multi-hypenated artist, curator, organizer, curator, and human. Most of my work is photography but I am also a filmmaker, model, runner, and DJ (I know... we need more doctors).

This website is a work-in-progress, but a peak into my world. Enjoy!

Hit up my line if you want to work together or collaborate!

Things I am interested in lately:

- the interrelations of sport, physical movement, art, and nightlife

- merging Asian/Chinese sound within the context and lexicon of global and regional club cultures

- lion dancing and martial arts
- portraiture

Alger Ji-Liang 梁家傑 (he/him) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist, curator, and arts worker based on the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tseil-Waututh) peoples, known as "Vancouver".

His lens-based practice explores the interrelations of kinship, love, and grief through self-documentation, archival investigation, and image-making. He is currently the curator of the Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen, a responsive community-generated urban screen platforming local and commissioned public art.
